How Does Full Spectrum CBD Oil Help for Pain Management

How Does Full Spectrum CBD Oil Help for Pain Management

With the increased awareness of the dangers of opioid abuse, medical professionals and pain sufferers are actively searching for additional remedies that do not carry the potentially dangerous characteristics of opioids.

Cannabis has been known and used for medicinal purposes for millennia, and was a recognized pharmaceutical during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Legislation in the early 20th century criminalized cannabis due to its psychoactive properties and abuse potential.

Recent research and changes in legislation have opened the potential of cannabis-derived compounds for the relief of specific symptoms, namely for pain, stress, and inflammation. Commercial CBD compounds for chronic pain relief are tightly regulated and may only contain less than 0.3% of THC (the psychoactive compound that is responsible for the feeling of being “high”).

How does CBD work in the body?

Everyone has an Endocannabinoid system in their body. This is a system of receptors that respond to the presence of a variety of compounds from both inside and outside of the body. Endocannabinoids are produced as needed within the body and contribute to the regulation of a range of bodily functions such as sleep, appetite, metabolism, and motor control. It is also partially responsible for the management of stress, inflammation, and the function of muscle, skin and nerves. In the event of injury or stress, it is believed that the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is largely responsible for returning balance to the body. The introduction of cannabis-based compounds such as Cannabidiol (CBD) is believed to assist in this process.

The Entourage Effect

When exploring CBD oil for chronic pain relief, consider full-spectrum CBD products. There are nearly 100 identified compounds in cannabis-derived products, each with different properties. The cumulative, combined effect of these compounds within the body is known as the Entourage Effect.

There is a growing body of research examining the efficacy of CBD specifically for cancer and arthritis pain. According to a study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information Rats with laboratory-induced arthritis responded positively to a topical application of CBD oil. There was a reduction in inflammation and pain in the affected joints. This suggests possible positive results in humans.

In the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology a study discussed how despite the need for additional research, CBD was effective in contributing to pain relief in specific settings.

When considering CBD products, speak with a trusted professional and insist on products that are laboratory-tested and free of pesticides.

As with any supplement, consult your physician before using CBD oil for chronic pain relief. CBD is not intended to replace an existing pain management regimen. It is not recommended to use CBD products in combination with any medication that comes with a “Grapefruit Warning”, as it can interfere with the metabolization and performance of those medications. CBD FOR RELIEVING TRAVEL STRESS IN DOGS

Just like humans, dogs can develop signs and symptoms of stress for various reasons. Loud noises, such as fireworks and thunderstorms, can be a source of stress for dogs. Dogs may also display signs of distress when faced with the unknown or unusual or if they associate a thing or an experience with an unpleasant memory or event.

Unlike humans, dogs are not necessarily able to express themselves as clearly as humans can. Although they often express their feelings of fear and stress, it is often unclear what the source of worry and stress might be. While most dogs enjoy a ride in the family car, it may be stressful for others. Some dogs may shake or whine when encountering car travel. Some may refuse to get in on their own. Your dog may urinate or chew themselves nervously.

If your dog has developed a fear of riding in the car, it could result from motion sickness, a fairly common occurrence. Some dogs may associate a ride in the car with a visit to the vet’s office- which is stressful for many pets.

To help relieve the stress and stress associated with car travel for dogs, you can place a favorite toy or blanket in the car. You can also have the dog travel in their crate. This is helpful for crate-trained dogs. You can also cover the crate to reduce the amount of visual stimulus. To relieve the fear that your dog may have of an unpleasant destination, short trips with a favorite toy or treat as a reward at the end may help to create more pleasant memories associated with car travel. Quiet music or calm conversation may help soothe your dog’s stress. Positive reinforcement and a peaceful demeanor are a big plus.

If you have identified the source of your dog’s distress as fear or stress of riding in the car or motion sickness (especially in puppies who have yet to develop the motion-stabilizing ability in their ears), perhaps it’s time to consider CBD products as a stress reliever for your dog. CBD products for dogs are available as treats or as drops.

There is a growing movement in pet care that supports using hemp (botanically related to marijuana) products, and CBD (Cannabidiol) extracts in treating certain specific conditions in dogs. CBD has been found to be beneficial in relieving stress and stress, motion sickness, and joint and bone pain in dogs.

All mammals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) in their bodies, and the ECS regulates every metabolic process in an animal’s body, both human and canine alike. A balanced ECS will help control stress, pain, stress, depression, and inflammation. CBD helps manage stress by changing the brain’s serotonin receptors. CBD is one of 113 identified cannabinoids found in cannabis plants (including the psychoactive ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol) and can account for as much as 40% of the plant’s extract.

When considering CBD products for your dog’s stress, it is important to remember that THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana) can be harmful to dogs, so a THC-free CBD product is recommended.

For dosing, it is recommended that when choosing CBD dog treats for stress and pain relief, they receive between 1 and 5 mg per 10 lbs of your dog’s weight. This is simply a guideline. Please consult your veterinarian for specific dosage information, as with all medications and supplements.

Note- Please consult your physician before beginning or discontinuing any medication. CBD should not be used with any medication containing a “grapefruit warning.”

CBD compounds may, by law, contain no more than 0.3 % of THC. While this is not enough THC to create a psychoactive effect, it may still be detectable in some tests. If you are prohibited from using any product containing THC, CBD treatments may not be an option.

Back to School – Back to the Routine – How CBD Can Help with Stress

Summer is over, and school is back in session. After a year of ZOOM classes, at-home schooling, and a mixed bag of COVID-19 restrictions in many school districts, this is a particularly stressful time in many households. For parents and students who already have a year of uncertainty and stress under their belts, a new school year presents many challenges that differ for everyone.

For parents, it may be the stress of organizing their children’s schedules to align with their work schedules. For some, it means organizing homeschool classes. For some, it may be the stress of a parent with a student studying away from home.

For students, the stresses could include the first in-school sessions in over a year, new class and work assignments, peer pressure and bullying, or perhaps that first semester of dorm life apart from the family.

Stress is a natural reaction to uncertainty and is vital to our survival instincts. But too much stress can have an injurious effect on our minds and bodies. According to a report by the National Institute for Mental Health, “With chronic stress, those same life-saving reactions in the body can disturb the immune, digestive, cardiovascular, sleep, and reproductive systems. Some people may experience mainly digestive symptoms, while others may have headaches, sleeplessness, sadness, anger, or irritability.”

Many are finding relief for stress and the physical symptoms that arise from stress in the use of CBD (cannabidiol) products. While derived from the cannabis plant, CBD products contain either no or nearly untraceable amounts of the psychoactive ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This is the primary intoxicating compound in marijuana that gives the feeling of being “high.” At the same time, average THC percentages in marijuana extracts can range from 60% to 80% THC, cannabidiol, or CBD, which is extracted from the botanically related and legally grown hemp plant, which contains an average of 0.3% THC.

A study published by the National Institutes for Health found existing preclinical evidence strongly supports CBD as a treatment for many stress-related problems.

CBD products have become more popular across a wide spectrum of consumers and can ease stress and tension associated with a disruption in a daily schedule or with increased inactivity. As a tincture, gummies, or creams, a range of CBD products is available for symptoms of stress, sleeplessness, muscle tension, and more. An informational session with a professional CBD pharmacist can help you become more familiar with what is available, and they can fully recommend a CBD-based product for you.

Ananda Professional continues its commitment to bringing to market the first fully compliant and legal CBD oil product line created specifically for the needs of independent pharmacies and healthcare professionals.

This exclusive, professional line meets strict safety standards and features pharmaceutical-grade full-spectrum cannabinoids. We invite you to explore the range of CBD products available here.

Before taking any new medication or supplement or trying a new method to assist you or your family with any wellness issue, always consult your doctor or medical health professional. Never stop taking prescribed medication without first consulting your doctor.

CBD and Covid-19

CBD will not cure COVID-19, but here are a few notes from our pharmacist that might help you during this time.

As COVID-19 continues to spread across the world, many people start asking their healthcare providers questions about how to prevent or even cure this scary virus. Both on my website and in my retail pharmacy, I have had patients looking for ways to prevent contracting this virus. Truth and accuracy are crucial when dealing with such a critical illness.

CBD and Hemp do a lot of great things for the body and for our general health, but unfortunately, preventing or curing COVID-19 is not one of them. CBD has some antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties, but at this time there is no research to back its effectiveness. Anyone claiming that CBD can prevent or cure COVID-19 is not telling the truth.

While CBD cannot prevent or cure COVID-19, it still continues to provide many health benefits for people all across the world. One useful benefit is the fact that CBD helps the body to have a healthy immune system. This can be an invaluable advantage at this time when you need to be your strongest.

Right now, the best practices I can tell my patients is to frequently wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, keep your hands away from your face, mouth, and eyes, and try to avoid large crowds, I also suggest carrying a small hand sanitizer and using it after touching surfaces used by the public like gas station pump handles and ATMs.

Lastly, we all need to pray for a swift end to this deadly virus, and a future cure. We all need to think of others because we all have to work together to end this. I want to thank all my customers and patients for their patronage and if anyone has any questions please feel free to email me or use the question box at the bottom of my website.

Thanks
Dave RPh.

The Endocannabinoid System

The Endocannabinoid System

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS)

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) occurs naturally in the body and promotes a state of balance and well-being. When a function in the body gets out of tune, our ECS activates and helps correct the problem.

It comprises receptors located all over the body that cannabinoids and endocannabinoids bond to, endocannabinoids, and the enzymes that break down cannabinoids and endocannabinoids.

Because these receptors are located all over the body, they have so many effects on it. Some conditions thought to be affected by cannabinoids are sleep, mood, pain, and appetite.

Cannabinoids such as CBD bind to the receptors in the ECS, giving them direction. Your body can also produce cannabinoids, which are called endocannabinoids. Endo means naturally occurring in our bodies.

It is thought that when the body suffers stress or injury, it may not produce enough of its own endocannabinoids to maintain the ECS. That’s when supplementing the body with a cannabinoid such as CBD can help.

A good example of this is when we don’t get enough nutrients from our diet, and we supplement with vitamins.

Some enzymes break down cannabinoids. One enzyme in particular is called Cytochrome P450, and the reason is that this enzyme also metabolizes many other things in the body, including some prescription drugs.

This can cause competition between the cannabinoids and the other drugs. If there is insufficient enzyme to metabolize both substances, both levels will rise, which could cause unwanted side effects.

One good rule of thumb would be not to mix CBD with any prescription drug that your Doctor or Pharmacist tells you not to mix with grapefruits.

Generally, any drug that your doctor or pharmacist tells you not to take with grapefruits, you should not take with CBD.

Two examples would be the blood thinner Coumadin (Warfarin) and Statin drugs used for cholesterol, such as Lipitor (Atorvastatin).

Why CBD?

Why CBD?

CBD is derived from cannabis (hemp) plants. The hemp oil extracted from the plant is where the high concentrations of CBD reside. The hemp oil is very high in CBD and very low in THC, which is why people can enjoy its benefits without being capable of inducing a high.

When absorbed by the body, CBD interacts with the naturally occurring Endocannabinoid system. The ECS is responsible for maintaining balance in the body and its functions. These functions include regulating mood, sleep, appetite, and immune response.

HEMP OIL VS CBD OIL

Hemp oil is cold-pressed from Hemp seeds. It is a potent oil high in antioxidants, omega three, and omega six fatty acids.

Hemp oil is edible and can be absorbed topically, so you can add it to your daily diet or use it as a moisturizer for your skin. However, you will not reap the benefits that CBD and other Cannabinoids can provide.

CBD is costly to extract, and therefore, CBD oil costs more than Hemp oil. CBD oil comes from the whole plant, including stalks and flowers, but not the seeds as hemp oil does.

Superior products like Ananda Professional CBD have both. That way, you get all the benefits both oils have to offer.
