4 Reasons Why Your Pooch Should Chew on CBD Soft Chews for Pets

You love your furry friend. You want them to be happy, healthy, and stress-free. But sometimes, life throws them a curveball. Maybe they have joint pain, anxiety, inflammation, or other issues like travel stress that make them feel less than paw-some. That’s where CBD soft chews for pets come in.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound from hemp that can help your pet in many ways. And CBD soft chews are a delicious and convenient way to give them their daily dose of wellness. But do CBD calming chews work for dogs? Here are the top 4 reasons why they help.

1. CBD Soft Chews Can Help Your Dog Chill Out

Does your pet get nervous when you leave them alone, when there’s a thunderstorm, or when they meet new people or animals? Do they bark, scratch, or hide under the bed? If so, they might benefit from CBD dog treats. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which regulates mood, sleep, appetite, and other functions. Plus, CBD soft chews for dogs often contain other calming ingredients, such as chamomile, L-theanine, or melatonin. At The Hemp Pharmacist, we take our THC-free CBD chews a step further with full-spectrum cannabinoids like CBN and CBG, prized for their therapeutic, anxiolytic properties and the clinically-studied Suntheanine® L-Theanine amino acid.

2. Soft Chews Can Support Your Dog’s Joints and Mobility

As your pet ages, they may experience joint pain, stiffness, and inflammation due to arthritis or other conditions. This can make them less active, playful, and comfortable. Our soft chews for dogs can help your pet maintain healthy joints and mobility by reducing pain.  They can also protect the cartilage and prevent further joint damage by fighting oxidative stress. Other joint-supporting ingredients may include glucosamine, chondroitin, or turmeric.

3. Soft Chews Can Boost Your Dog’s Immune System

These hemp-derived soft chews can also help your pet stay healthy and strong by boosting their immune system. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties that can help fight off infections, diseases, and free radicals. They can also modulate the immune system and prevent it from overreacting or underreacting, which can cause autoimmune disorders or allergies— helping your pet ward off illness and recover faster.

4. CBD Soft Chews Are Yummy and Handy

cbdmd calming chews

Last but not least, CBD soft chews for dogs come in various flavors, such as Honey Chicken, Turkey, Bacon, and Peanut Butter, which your pet will love. They are also easy to dose and administer— simply give them to your pet as a treat or mix them with their food. Best of all, they’re portable and discreet, so you can take them on those extra-long walks.

How Much CBD Can My Dog Have?

Although CBD does not contain THC, the psychoactive substance that makes people (and pets) “high,” it must be appropriately administered to notice its effects. The dosage depends on your pet’s weight, health condition, and potency of the CBD product you are using. Here are some general guidelines to follow from The Hemp Pharmacist so you aren’t giving Fluffy too little or too much:

  •  A general rule of thumb is to give your dog 0.2mg of CBD per pound of body weight. Still, you should always start with a low dose and gradually increase it until you see the desired effects.
  • Consult your veterinarian before giving your dog CBD, especially if your dog has any underlying health issues or is taking any medications.
  • Use a reputable and high-quality CBD product for your dog, preferably one that is natural, full-spectrum, and third-party tested for purity and potency.
  • Check the label of your CBD product and follow the instructions carefully. Measure the CBD oil with a dropper or a syringe and administer it directly into your dog’s mouth or mix it with his food or treats.
  • Monitor your dog’s response to CBD and adjust the dosage accordingly. Look for signs of improvement in your dog’s condition and any possible side effects, such as drowsiness, dry mouth, or low blood pressure.

Exploring CBD as a Potential Treatment for Cannabis Use Disorder

Exploring CBD as a Potential Treatment for Cannabis Use Disorder

Ever since the 2018 Farm Bill, the therapeutic nature of CBD (cannabidiol) has garnered massive worldwide attention—and for good reason. While CBD oil has gained popularity for its role in managing various conditions like depression and pain relief, emerging research suggests that it may also hold promise in treating Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD). In a world dominated by “Big Pharma,” legitimizing CBD as a holistic treatment is a major breakthrough that can contribute to better scientific discoveries down the line.

What is Cannabis Use Disorder?

Cannabis Use Disorder, characterized by the excessive and compulsive use of cannabis, can have debilitating effects on a person’s physical, mental, and social well-being. Though there is a common misconception that cannabis is not addictive, it is indicated that 3 out of 10 cannabis users have Cannabis Use Disorder. The addiction can be challenging to overcome, as traditional treatments may not always yield optimal results. This has led to an exploration of alternative treatment options, like CBD.

CBD for Depression Help

But isn’t CBD a descendant of cannabis?

Well, not exactly. CBD stems directly from the hemp plant—a cousin of the cannabis plant.

With cannabis, depression often coexists with its disorder counterpart, and CBD has shown potential in alleviating depressive symptoms. Several studies have shown that CBD interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain, which play an important role in mood regulation. By modulating serotonin levels, CBD may help lower depression symptoms in people with CUD, forging a better future on the horizon—one that isn’t an infinite “loop” of substance misuse and mental health struggles.

CBD Hemp Oil for Pain Relief

CBD can not only help fight depression but also alleviate pain. Chronic pain often contributes to substance use disorders, including CUD. CBD stimulates the body’s endocannabinoid system, which regulates pain, inflammation, and immune response. CBD hemp oil, when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, may give people with CUD the pain release they need; it “cuts the cord” of relying on cannabis for pain management.

Ananda Professional Full Spectrum Hemp Extract

Ananda Professional Full Spectrum Hemp Extract is a CBD product that warrants attention in the context of CUD treatment. Full spectrum extract refers to CBD oil derived from the entire hemp plant, containing a wide range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and beneficial compounds. This comprehensive, or in other words, “full spectrum” blend, is believed to offer enhanced therapeutic feelings known as the entourage effect. But it’s not just believed; it’s proven

Ananda Professional’s commitment to rigorous quality standards and top-of-the-line, pharmaceutical-grade hemp formula ensures a reliable and trusted product for people seeking CUD treatment.

More CBD Products for Pain Relief

The good news for people with CUD: there is a limitless supply of CBD products for pain relief. These products involve CBD topicals, edibles, tinctures, and capsules. When used in conjunction with behavioral therapies and other evidence-based CUD treatments, CBD products for pain relief can be the gateway to alternative medicine—while addressing the underlying physical discomfort.

Closing Thoughts

CBD does not just hold promise for treating Cannabis Use Disorder—it’s already become a complementary tool. It offers potentially better avenues for managing CUD problems without reliance on over-the-counter medications. Most importantly, CBD, administered by a certified professional like The Hemp Pharmacist, guarantees that All products are vetted by licensed pharmacy staff (as per the word “pharmacist” in “The Hemp Pharmacist”) and meet strict criteria. Only trust CBD products that are independently lab tested and certified; free of pesticides, herbicides, and unwanted solvents; and USA-sourced.

The Endocannabinoid System: A Scientific Breakdown

The Endocannabinoid System: A Scientific Breakdown

Have you ever wondered why cannabis affects us the way it does? Why does THC give us that body-and-mind-relaxing “high”? Well, science has all the answers to the red tie of fate that links the beloved plant to our bodies.

The human body is an intricate machine of complex systems, each working in tandem to maintain overall health and homeostasis. Your respiratory system works to deliver fresh air to the lungs, your cardiac system pumps blood to your heart, and your endocannabinoid system…sends signals throughout your body? But wait, aren’t “cannabinoids” in cannabis?

That’s right—if the body has a system for it, it must mean it’s important (and essential). The endocannabinoid system (ECS) was discovered in the 1990s to play a crucial role in various physiological processes, including mood regulation, pain perception, appetite control, and immune function. Let’s break it down.

Understanding the ECS

Deep down within the brain and nervous system is a biological network of endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes.

Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds that resemble the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. The two primary endocannabinoids are anandamide (AEA) (derived from the Sanskrit word “ananda,” which translates to “bliss,” or “the bliss molecule”) and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG). These endocannabinoids are synthesized on demand and act as messengers, transmitting signals between cells.

The receptors of the ECS are known as cannabinoid receptors, and they also have two types. Type one is CB1, primarily found in the central nervous system. Type two is CB2, predominantly located in the peripheral immune system. When endocannabinoids bind to these receptors, they initiate a series of biological responses, modulating various physiological processes.

Functions of the ECS

1. Mood Regulation

Believe it or not, the ECS is behind all the different moods you feel throughout the day. Activation of CB1 receptors in the brain can influence neurotransmitter release, leading to mood, stress, and anxiety changes.

2020 research suggests that targeting the ECS through pharmacological interventions could likely help manage mood disorders like depression and anxiety.

2. Pain Perception

When released in response to pain, endocannabinoids bind to CB1 receptors in the spinal cord and brain. This analgesic effect reduces pain signals—for example, when your hand touches a hot stove, and your reflexes kick in, your hand draws back and feels the aftermath. But, as the pain floods your body, the endocannabinoids dull your pain slightly to maintain homeostasis. This defensive effect of the ECS has inspired the development of many cannabinoid-based therapies for chronic pain management; ever heard of medicinal marijuana

3. Appetite and Metabolism

The munchies” is a popular term coined from the insatiable appetite induced by cannabis use—and for good reason. CB1 receptors in the hypothalamus and limbic system influence food intake, energy expenditure, and the chemical reward system triggered by food consumption. When the ECS is deregulated, it can lead to illnesses like anorexia, obesity, and other eating disorders, making it a therapeutic tool for keeping a healthy metabolism.

4. Immune Function

One of the most important benefits of the ECS is that it modulates immune responses and inflammation. Cb2 receptors found on immune cells regulate the release of cytokines and other immune molecules. The interaction between the ECS and the immune system has implications for various inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disorders, and even cancer.

Clinical Implications and Future Directions

The scientific breakthrough of the first naturally occurring endogenous cannabinoid in 1992 (anandamide) was the first major implication of the endocannabinoid system. It was found by Raphael Mechoulam and NIMH researchers William Devane and Dr. Lumir Hanus.

Thanks to them, our understanding of the ECS has opened new doors for medical research and the development of novel therapies. Cannabis-based medicines with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) have demonstrated promise in alleviating symptoms of epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. The ECS system also breaks down CBD (cannabidiol), which is similar to THC in that it can come from cannabis but differs because it is non-psychoactive. Overall, it takes consistent research to fully elucidate the therapeutic potential of the ECS and uncover the safety and efficacy of cannabinoid-based treatments.

Furthermore, the benefits of the ECS don’t stop there. Researchers are investigating the role of the ECS in other conditions, like neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and psychiatric illnesses. By honing a deeper understanding of the ECS and its intricate mechanisms, scientists hope to develop targeted therapies to modulate the system for better health outcomes.

Ananda’s New Product Line Unleashes the Entourage Effect

Ananda’s New Product Line Unleashes the Entourage Effect

The entourage effect is a word Ananda Professional knows all too well—describing the synergistic relationship between different compounds in the cannabis plant, including cannabidiol (CBD), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. When merged, these elements create a therapeutic feeling that is both physically and mentally beneficial. With this term in mind, Ananda drives its multi-million dollar research program in Georgetown, Kentucky, to continually identify new groundbreaking ways to use cannabinoids to improve health in longevity. Recently, they have broken barriers in the cannabis space to innovate products that transcend the limitations of CBD.

Leading Ananda Professional’s research and cannabinoid formulation front is Dr. Alex Capano, who states, “We’ve always known about the importance of entourage effect – that the benefit of the whole spectrum of hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes is greater than the sum of its parts. Now, we’ve been able to carefully select and control the dosages of these important emerging phytochemicals into this new breakthrough range.”

Introducing: The Ananda Condition-Specific Line

Catering to specific patient needs and outcomes, Ananda Professional has engineered three new products that embody each of the best qualities of cannabis and its entourage effect. In the coming months, we expect to see a range of products produced by our partner, Ananda Professional, from multi-active softgel, gummy, and tincture formulations that enhance productivity and focus. The revolutionary products were developed by Ananda Professional’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Alex Capano, and newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer, Neal Mercado.

Here’s what cannabinoid matrixes are currently on the market:

InflaEze: Pain Relief

ananda inflaeze pain relieving hemp tincture

InflaEze™ is a full-spectrum CBD oil tincture formulated for soothing relief and contains a combination of CBD, CBD-a, CBC, THC, and terpenes.

InflaEze™ is a powerful combination of cannabinoids known for their therapeutic effects. This distinctive blend of cannabinoids, including CBD, CBD-A, CBC, and THC, was carefully selected by Dr. Alex Capano, the Chief Science Officer, due to their remarkable results. The tincture formulation enables simple and quick administration under the tongue and rapidly absorbs. InflaEze™ also includes a balanced blend of terpenes known for their relief properties.

Within the entourage, the InflaEze™ tincture contains a specialized blend of cannabinoids that work together synergistically to achieve targeted outcomes. Not only is this Ananda Professional full-spectrum extract focused on the cannabinoids used, but how much is used. The individual cannabinoids have been deliberately and consistently incorporated to optimize the therapeutic effects of the blend. CBD-A, the precursor to CBD, has been discovered to have COX-2 inhibitory properties. Furthermore, CBC synergistically enhances the therapeutic characteristics of the overall blend when combined with other cannabinoids.

SomniVive: Better Sleep

ananda professional somnivive cannabinoid matrix sleep tincture

SomniVive™ targets a deeper, more restful night’s sleep with a combination of CBD, CBN, and THC.

SomniVive™ is a distinctive formulation that merges carefully selected cannabinoids chosen by Dr. Alex Capano, the Chief Science Officer, specifically for their ability to enhance the sleep/wake cycle. CBD, CBN, and THC blend to produce Ananda Professional’s most powerful cannabinoid-only sleep product.  Like InflaEze™, this Ananda Professional full-spectrum extract concentrated both the cannabinoids and the exact dosage. Each cannabinoid has been deliberately and carefully included to achieve the optimal therapeutic result. Being in tincture form enables convenient dosing and rapid absorption through sublingual administration.

It’s important to consider the fact that prescription and over-the-counter sleep aids can have negative side effects and are normally intended for short-term use. However, this is where our hemp-derived, natural formulation reigns supreme—it is non-addictive, meaning it can be used as a long-term remedy to safely improve sleep.

SereniPlex: Relieved Anxiety

Ananda Professional SereniPlex Tincture

SereniPlex™ is designed to erase stress and help customers relax with CBD, CBG, CBN, THC, and terpenes.

SereniPlex™ is a cannabinoid fusion that involves CBD, CBN (a micro-dose), and THC. This Ananda Professional full-spectrum extract blend was carefully selected for the calming relief these minors provided. This formulation places emphasis not only on the cannabinoids but also on their exact dosage to achieve relaxation. Each cannabinoid has been conveniently selected to heighten therapeutic effects. CBG, recognized as the primary cannabinoid, aids in boosting the body’s anandamide reserve, otherwise known as the bliss molecule. When CBN is administered in small quantities, it induces a sense of calmness and relaxation. SereniPlex also contains a potent blend of terpenes known for their stress-reducing properties.

For a long time, cannabinoids have been recognized for their ability to introduce relaxation and combat stress—earning them popularity as an alternative to prescription medications. But SereniPlex™ takes it a step beyond standard medicine by enhancing the most potent cannabinoids specifically for long-term or immediate stress relief. This natural full-spectrum formulation, derived from hemp, is non-addictive and can be employed as a lasting approach to managing stress.

How the Entourage Effect Inspired Ananda

These discoveries couldn’t be made without acknowledging the entourage effect, which plays a crucial role in the effectiveness of cannabis, hemp, and CBD because it enhances the therapeutic potential of the plant’s compounds. Combining CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes can increase the bioavailability and effectiveness of CBD, resulting in more significant therapeutic benefits.

By studying full-spectrum hemp and its functions when using the whole plant instead of specific parts, Ananda researchers could eventually control the power of the resulting phytocannabinoids to separate the desired outcome into three separate tinctures. Instead of solely using CBD to fight health issues in an all-in-one formula, each tincture is extra concentrated to fulfill a specific purpose.

Synthetic/Laced Cannabis Awareness: Why Is It Dangerous?

In an era where fentanyl poisoning is on the rise, people are becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of outsourced marijuana, cannabis, and other recreational drugs. Cannabis, although legal in 19 states, still poses a health risk (sometimes even deadly) when not obtained from a reputable seller.

Synthetic cannabis products have emerged as a cheaper alternative, created by spraying or coating plant material with synthetic cannabinoids or chemicals that mimic the effects of THC, the psychoactive compound in natural cannabis. Let’s examine why laboratory-made, synthetic cannabis threatens the nation.

People are often unaware that an overdose of cannabis is possible, especially if it is not pharmaceutical-grade, 100% natural, or full-spectrum. Synthetic cannabinoids are artificially-made chemicals that bind to the same receptors in the brain as THC. The (big) difference is that synthetic cannabinoids can be up to 100 times more potent than natural THC, making them dangerous and unpredictable. When a drug is unpredictable, the dosage is almost always incorrect. When a dosage is overshot with synthetic or laced cannabis, it can give the victim a dangerous rush of chemicals to the brain that can cause hallucinations, rapid heart rate, vomiting, seizures, and even death.  None are the normal effects of natural cannabis.  With a natural product like a full-spectrum oil tincture, CBD relief cream, or bottle of CBD gummies with less than 0.3% of THC, you are safe.

When laced cannabis or marijuana is smoked or consumed, unknown chemicals enter the system and wreak havoc on the body. Synthetic cannabis, also known as “spice” or “K2,” is typically untested and has a combination of highly potent compounds. Even worse, synthetic cannabis can be laced with fentanyl, glass, and even rat poison. Here are some other linked substances that can be hiding in your cannabis:

  • Embalming fluid
  • Laundry detergent
  • Methamphetamine
  • Heroin
  • PCP
  • Ketamine
  • LSD

Whether the cannabis is smoked, eaten, or used topically, you can still be at risk of a laced product. To spot if your cannabis is laced, check its color, smell, and taste. Cannabis and its marijuana counterpart have many different strains of characteristics, but the telltale sign that something is wrong is a pungent odor. If it scratches a CD, it may contain glass, as cannabis shouldn’t be sharp. Either way, it is challenging to identify laced cannabis, and chemical testing reveals that the naked eye does not typically see it.

There are too many risks involved in searching for cheap cannabis and marijuana. Hemp and CBD are safe alternatives to the beloved plant—they contain all of the health benefits of natural cannabis without the “high” induced by increased levels of THC. It is very rare to find a medical professional that sells these kinds of products with carefully-curated, chemically-tested expertise.

At The Hemp Pharmacist, all our products are pharmaceutically licensed and certified to achieve peak holistic health. Here are just some of our CBD products for pain relief, relaxation, and more that use full-spectrum hemp and CBD in their purest form.  Whether you need a CBD oil tincture, CBD relief cream, or other full-spectrum remedies, here are some of our favorites:

When looking for safe, natural hemp in its rawest form—you want to rely on a chemist, not a salesman, to deliver the best products. For more information and education on fake, synthetic, or laced cannabis and marijuana, contact our professionals here. Happy dosing!

CBD for Immune Health? Here Are Three Surprising Illnesses It Combats

CBD for Immune Health? Here Are Three Surprising Illnesses It Combats

CBD has been breaking headlines over the past decade, and for a good reason: health. Since its legalization in 2012, it has suddenly become a goldmine of health benefits, with the Internet exploding with infinite claims and wonders. With so much talk surrounding the cannabis compound, it’s difficult to weed out the truth. If we narrow CBD down to the facts, there isn’t much evidence and research to suggest its impact on the immune system. Regardless, we can’t deny its effect on the endocannabinoid system and what that potentially means for an enigma of autoimmune or drug-induced illnesses.

Dissecting the Endocannabinoid System

The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is like no other—it’s almost a forgotten piece of anatomy that helps us understand the absorption of phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids in the body. But did you know that endocannabinoids, a compound derived from cannabis, are already naturally found in the human body? If endocannabinoids were not meant to be broken down, why were we born with systems to process them?

The ECS is a cell-signaling system that binds with endocannabinoid receptors to transfer messages throughout the body. CBD (a component broken down in the ECS) is known to be a stress and pain reliever, which works to ease anxiety in mind and relax the muscles. Using the central nervous system’s CB1 receptors and the peripheral nervous system’s CB2 receptors (also found in immune cells), the ECS system regulates many critical bodily functions, including:

  • Sleep
  • Mood
  • Digestion
  • Cognition
  • Reproduction

Three Major Illnesses CBD Can Fight

The versatility of CBD means endless possibilities for health. With CBD’s mind and body relaxing powers, you can take some stress off your immune system as you fight many different illnesses. It’s important to note that CBD is used to aid your usual treatment, not cure your issues entirely on its own. Once you open your mind to CBD, you may gravitate towards a more natural, health-conscious solution.

Cancer Nausea

Specifically used in cancer immunotherapy, studies suggest that anticipatory nausea develops in 25-59% of chemotherapy patients. When doing a trial on rats, two non-psychoactive cannabinoids found in cannabis, CBD and CBDA, were shown to interfere with acute nausea-induced conditioned gaping without obstructing their locomotive abilities. Though just an animal study, it concluded that the endocannabinoid system played a key role in regulating nausea, and with the induction of CBD and CBDA, it significantly reduces acute and anticipatory nausea without psychoactive effects. CBD for cancer immunotherapy has become a huge alternative treatment in patients today.

A new 2022 study found groundbreaking evidence that pharmaceutical-grade CBD has a significant negative association with SARS-CoV-2 replication. This means that, with the help of CBD, you can stop COVID virus development before it matures. “CBD has anti-inflammatory effects, so we thought that maybe it would stop the second phase of COVID infection involving the immune system, the so-called ‘cytokine storm,’” said Marsha Rosner, University of Chicago’s professor of cancer research and senior author of the study. “We just wanted to know if CBD would affect the immune system. No one in their right mind would have ever thought that it blocked viral replication, but that’s what it did.” The study specifically administered CBD oil, which can be used topically.

Opioid Withdrawal

Opioids have sadly become counterproductive in today’s society, with the opioid epidemic illustrating a horrifying 38% jump in overdose deaths since the start of the 2020 pandemic. Originally used to help with pain relief in patients, they have overtaken around 240,000 lives yearly. CBD, a non-addictive, pain-relieving, non-impairing compound, can replace the common over-the-counter drug.

2021 research conducted 44 in-depth trials to study CBD’s effects on insomnia, anxiety, and pain. Along the way, they discovered that the compound reduced cravings in people with opioid use disorder (OUD) during withdrawal. Over the 1-2 weeks of withdrawal, common OUD sufferers endure the following reactions:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Pain
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Muscle spasms
  • Blood pressure problems

When introduced to CBD, all withdrawal symptoms were reduced. This hypothetically suggests that CBD oil for pain relief can be used as a more holistic withdrawal alternative and, more importantly, stop overdoses.

How Hemp is Transforming the Mental Health Space—Clinical Trials and Research Studies

How Hemp is Transforming the Mental Health Space—Clinical Trials and Research Studies

Hemp is a variety of the cannabis sativa plant, used for industrial purposes in a myriad of different products. Industrial hemp, like bamboo, is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world. With loosening global regulations and legalization under the 2018 Farm Bill, researchers everywhere have jumped on the chance to utilize hemp’s advantages to research and treat several physical disorders—such as nerve pain, chemotherapy-induced illness, epilepsy, and muscle spasticity. Now taking a more legitimate title as medicinal cannabis, it has been reported to help not only the body but the mind, too.

Affective Disorders

With increased scientific research, hemp has been used to treat different behavior conditions that disrupt mood regulation. Treatment for affective disorders (and all disorders) involves consumption, inhalation, or topical absorption of the plant and can be taken in the form of oil, gummies, serums, and more.

In a 2017 clinical study, the endocannabinoid system was discovered to moderate anxiety and mood, with supporting data finding cannabinoids and other substances stimulating the prefrontal cortex, amygdaloid complex, bed nucleus of stria terminalis, and hippocampus in the brain. Cannabis derivations like hemp target these areas to relieve anxiety and serve as an antidepressant mediated through its serotonergic properties (5-HT1A receptor activation and THC’s CB1 receptor agonism).

Though there’s limited research to prove that hemp completely cures Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder, it assists in alleviating anxiety levels in the brain. Using Hemp Pharamicist’s concentrated Ananda or CBDMD gummies for anxiety, roll-ons, or CBD oil can help soothe stress for a clear mind.

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

The whole cannabis plant has been observed to relieve PTSD symptoms, specifically in veterans. The prefrontal cortex, amygdala, and hippocampus release fear in the brain, which, when impaired by medicinal cannabis, improves responses by triggering stimuli.

One 2014 survey of 170 patients at a medical cannabis dispensary in California found that those with high PTSD scores preferred cannabidiol for sleep improvement and coping. Along with its psychological benefits, hemp-derived CBD can be used in CBD oil to soften and brighten the skin with stress-relieving properties.

Depression is rising in America, with over 20% of adults in 2019-2020 experiencing the blues. Phytocannabinoids and terpenes drawn from the hemp plant directly affect the endocannabinoid system to act as an antidepressant. However, it illustrates that heavy cannabis users could increase susceptibility to depression, so we recommend using either a low THC dosage of cannabis or CBD gummies, which have 0.3% or less of THC. On a positive note, in a cross-sectional survey of 1429 medical cannabis users, over 50% use cannabis to treat depression.

Many studies and reports suggest the positive effects of hemp on sleep, including this case study of 72 adults experiencing poor sleep. Sleep scores strengthened within the first month in 48 patients (66.7%) but shifted over time. Overall, CBD was well-tolerated in all but three patients. CBD oil for sleep or hemp night cream can apply this effect with natural, full-spectrum extracts.

Psychotic Disorders

These mental illnesses can impact everyday life with cognitive impairment, social problems, and stressful mental patterns. Hemp can be a shield to keep unhealthy thoughts at bay and reduce distractions.

There has been a consistent link between hemp and cannabis in schizophrenia treatment. Though heavy cannabis use can hinder the disorder with enhanced psychosis, healthy consumption of non-THC counterparts like CBD provides an opposite effect to THC inebriation. A double-blind parallel-group trial involving 88 schizophrenia patients gave them either oral CBD (1000 mg/day) or a placebo to replace their antipsychotic medication for six weeks— revealing that the CBD party had lower levels of positive psychotic symptoms on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and a higher chance of being considered clinically improved.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Adults with ADHD favored cannabis as their choice of self-medication in a 2016 study. The observed outcome of cannabis users reported higher cognitive performance and improved activity levels. Hyperactivity/impulsivity can also be alleviated, with hemp terpenes and cannabinoids performing a calming effect on the brain.

Overstimulation in the brain can also pair with other mental illnesses like depression and anxiety.  Our medical-grade hemp specialists recommend a full-spectrum CBDa formula to take with your daily dose of vitamins as a focus booster.  Full-spectrum cannabidiolic acid softgels break down in the body with 3x higher Cmax (peak serum concentration) levels than CBD when taken alone.

At The Hemp Pharmacist, we are enthusiasts of a hemp-explored future. We believe that embracing the full potential of the cannabis plant can reveal holistic alternatives to pharmaceutical dependence and even ween people off some conventional drugs. More clinical research is needed to prove hemp’s full, comprehensive effects on physical and mental health. With your increased interest in full-spectrum, natural hemp, we can evolve into a healthier community.

Take a mental health day every day with our pharmaceutical-grade hemp products—experience hemp’s benefits with CBD oil, Koi CBD gummies, and more. For extra information or dosage assistance, reach out to our professionals here.

CBD Awareness Month 2023: Celebrate With cbdMD this January

CBD Awareness Month 2023: Celebrate With cbdMD this January

It’s no secret that CBD has greened out the world (and all its people) with love for the hemp plant; we even invented a month for it. Every year, our medical professionals at cbdMD have dubbed January the official CBD Awareness Month— where we embrace all of the life-changing benefits full-spectrum CBD encompasses for physical wellness, mental health, and much more.

CBD—What’s So Special About It?

Since the 2018 Farm Bill passed, CBD has exploded in popularity and leveraged in many forms, like CBD oil tinctures, edibles for pain relief, immunity gummies, anxiety roll-ons, and pet products (the list goes on) to treat virtually anything. The recognition is due to CBD’s striking similarities with its counterpart, cannabis. The main difference is that CBD does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the leading chemical responsible for getting you high.

Because it does not get you high, CBD has been incorporated into many people’s daily lives and routines, even attracting the attention of public figures and celebrities who voice its benefits.

The History of National CBD Month

But great things don’t come without backlash. The close connection between CBD and cannabis—which was only just federally legalized for adult consumption in 2018— has garnered a negative outlook from the media. People began to reject CBD on the mere basis that it spawns from a previously classified Schedule I drug, causing people to question the legitimacy of its positive impact. That’s why cbdMD has made every January a CBD holiday to fight the negative stigma and counterfeit products surrounding it.

Because cannabidiol oil (CBD) contains less than 0.3% THC, which is legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, it became the perfect loophole for consumers and researchers to explore its effects. In 2019, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that CBD was the fourth most Google-searched health topic in April. This study revealed to the world that CBD is in high demand, and people want it.

Our partners at cbdMD founded National CBD Month in 2020 to celebrate the normalization of CBD and its increased integration into our society. We are on a daily mission to ensure everyone is educated on the wonders of CBD and make our full-spectrum CBD formula (made from all of the good parts of the hemp plant) available to all. With our recent 2022 win with the Medical Marijuana and Cannabidiol Research Expansion Act, we’ve streamlined our CBD skincare products, gummies, oil tinctures, and more from our ISO-certified labs to millions of homes nationwide.

CBD Awareness Month Timeline

CBD has effectively taken the world by storm over the past decade. Let’s break down some of the key milestones that have caused the 2020 launch of our beloved holiday below.

2014 – The Fight for Legalization Begins

The 2014 Agriculture Act makes hemp-derived CBD legal in the U.S. Utah becomes the first state to pass legislation for low-THC high-CBD legalization, followed by ten more states by the end of the year.

2015 – Medical Breakthroughs

A surge of professional research (around 49 clinical studies) finds that CBD can help manage a multitude of problems. See what some of those are here.

2017 – WADA Approves

The World Anti-Doping Agency permits hemp-drawn compound CBD cannabidiol use. The Californication of commercially sold industrial hemp through Senate Bill 566 enacts as a result.

2018 – The Farm Bill

CBD extracted from hemp (not marijuana) and has less than 0.3% THC becomes federally legal, removing hemp from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).

How Can I Celebrate?

Spend CBD Awareness Month your way with endless activities that include the mind-relaxing remedy. Incorporate cannabidiol into the new year by using this month to reflect, experiment, and relax. This January is the perfect opportunity to share CBD with a family member or friend to explore your health together. Here are a few ideas from cbdMD that you can try with a partner or solo:

  • Enhance your skincare routine.  Our CBD Botanicals Facial Exfoliant, Body Butter, and Body Oil use a holistic, full-spectrum formula to rehydrate and rejuvenate damaged skin.
  • Detox the mind and body.  Choosing CBD and healthy foods over processed foods and over-the-counter medications triggers your body to flush out years’ worth of toxins. Our vitamin-packed Immunity Gummies are available in three strengths to restore mental, cardiac, and digestive health.
  • Relax and recover. It’s essential to give yourself a break, especially after a day of strenuous work or exercise. Replenish tense muscles with a topical Cream or use an Anxiety Roll On to soothe stress through a mind-to-muscle connection.

Now that you know the ins and outs of CBD, why not make self-care your New Year’s Resolution? Put your health first by exploring CBD with the Hemp Pharmacist, your reputable medical provider. Green II Gold: The Full-Spectrum CBD Skincare Line

Green II Gold: The Full-Spectrum CBD Skincare Line

Infusing the power of nature with potent botanicals and professional, food-grade phytocannabinoids, Green II Gold brings the best qualities of hemp to your skin, hair, and beyond. The difference stems from its sustainable growth down to the fertile soil, where the seed is nurtured and clinically tested for quality and purity. The sprouted result is our full-spectrum CBD formula, embracing all parts of the whole plant— and a healthier, happier you.

Rooted in his love for his granddaughter, Katelyn, Bob Lampert created Ecofibre: Green II Gold’s parent company.  Searching for a safe, gentle solution to manage her Dravet’s Syndrome at two years old, he found Ananda full-spectrum CBD extract from sustainably grown hemp.  $40 million in clinical research donations later, Ecofibre continues its hemp-fuelled mission to merge nature and nurture.

It’s a no-brainer that more and more consumers are scrounging the web for clean, environmentally-conscious beauty products that are not only good for the body but good for the Earth, too.  That’s why it’s an essential rule of (green) thumb to always seek full-spectrum when it comes to CBD.
Embodying all aspects of the raw hemp plant, full-spectrum CBD contains an array of naturally occurring plant extracts, cannabinoids, and terpenes—and sometimes a sprinkle (up to 0.3%) of THC.  When something is CBD-isolated, it contains the sole CBD, without any other natural compounds.  Since Green II Gold is held to the full-spectrum standard, you can count on all CBD face cleansers, creams, serums, moisturizers, CBD balancing face toners, lotions, and oils to provide the highest quality of therapeutic benefits the hemp plant can offer.

There is no shortage of hemp-rich skin repair with Green II Gold’s repertoire of powerful, entourage-effect fatty acids and ingredients.  Free of biotoxins, toxic chemicals, or animal cruelty, these cannabinoid-infused products offer no empty promises for a rejuvenated, enchanted body— from pore to pore.  Each third-party tested product contains a CBDerma PRO formula that works around the clock to oxidize and nourish, and paired together work in unison to provide a combination of vegan skincare routines.  We’ve included a step-by-step self-care guide below for dry, scaly skin.

Brewed to milky perfection, start with a dollop of the Protective Oil Cleanser, and massage it into the face, neck, or décolleté. It’s a CBD balancing face toner made with golden hemp extract and micellar complex. It unclogs pores and melts away impurities with warm water to reveal a radiantly primed skin barrier.

Follow with 6-8 drops of the 4D Hydration Serum to instantly smooth and brighten the skin. If you’re a fellow makeup-wearer, this CBD-infused facial serum is perfect for stripping away the poisonous pollutants and gunk found in foundations, concealers, or other mainstream beauty products. The French Plantain and Hyaluronic Acid are a dynamic duo for baby-smooth skin, which hold the secret weapon of Allantoin (a powerful skin-soothing agent) and wound healing properties.

The eyes are the window to the soul, but most of us hold some baggage. Voyage into the hemp moisture moisturizing cream, Revitalizing Eye Cream, for an airy touch to the eyes—a soft, pillowy absorption and headrush of fortifying phytonutrients. The Daisy Flower Extract replenishes collagen fibers and shields the sun’s damaging rays for a youthful, rested appearance (P.S. see ya, wrinkles).

For extra special attention to flaky patches and dead skin, smooth the CBD exfoliating facial scrub, Firming Facial Moisturizer into the skin for 24-hour protection. As you take on the day, microscopic vitamins and nutrients from Beet Root Extract and Hyaluronic Acid seep into your pores to leave your skin buttery soft.

The Renewing Night Cream is your skin’s personal blanket. It renews the skin’s moisture barrier from prolonged exposure to cold air, U.V. damage, mask-wearing, acne treatments, excessive exfoliation, and more—all while you sleep. After cleansing, gently knead the velvety lotion into your face and neck, and let the Brown Rice Ferment, Hyaluronic Acid, and CBD do the rest.

Mix 6-8 drops of the Luminescent Face Oil into the Night Cream for double the enhancement.  It has sustainably-sourced Phyto oils (that don’t feel greasy) within its DNA— like Cacay Oil and Vegan Squalane—that use cellular regeneration to rebuild and rehydrate your skin by dawn.

To see Green II Gold’s other products for common like oily, sensitive, and irritated skin, check out their website and witness the nirvana of full-spectrum, sustainable CBD.  And if you’re looking to expand your horizons past skincare, they’ve meticulously included a scalp and hair serum, a massage oil, and a gift bundle, just in time for the holiday season. What is Delta 9 THC? The Rise of the Popular Cannabinoid and Why You Should Try It

What is Delta 9 THC? The Rise of the Popular Cannabinoid and Why You Should Try It

Cannabis has engulfed the globe in popularity since its legalization, spurning hundreds of potent cannabinoid products to be born.  Through careful laboratory testing, hemp and its main psychoactive ingredient, Delta 9 THC, was harvested and sold at a fire-fast rate.  Inspired, our friends at cbdMD and The Hemp Pharmacist engineered full-spectrum Delta 9 gummies, joining a full arsenal of medical-grade hemp solutions.

Delta 9 THC (or just “THC”) is the top-known cannabinoid and the root of that beloved euphoric “high” we feel from cannabis ingestion, inhalation, or topical absorption.  It’s the most commonly found compound in both marijuana and hemp plants, extracted through heat.

When purchased from a reputable medical professional, yes!  With their FDA-registered GMP facilities and third-party testing, you can rely on cbdMD’s products to shoot above and beyond manufacturing standards.  Since our scientists extract Delta 9 THC to create a much more concentrated formula, it is not organically found in the wild.  However, Delta 9 is a natural spawn of the hemp plant, whether made in one of our ISO-certified labs or not.  Following the proper dosage, our cbdMD gummies can work wonders for the mind and body.

Delta 9 THC is an age-restricted product, and verification is required at the sale.  It is unsafe for children and people under 21 due to its psychoactive properties.  Dose THC maturely and responsibly.

You may be susceptible to an adverse reaction if you have a known or unknown medical condition.  Start with a small amount to measure your body’s response.  Like any other medication, it’s always better to take too little.

After taking one of our Delta 9 THC gummies, you will want to set the mood.  If you’re exercising strenuously, you may prevent yourself from feeling its body-calming effects.

THC and other cannabinoids or terpenes can interact with some prescriptions, so contact your doctor if you’re unsure Delta 9 is suitable for you.

Do you have a job that cracks down on drug tests?  Even if you’re in a state with loose hemp laws as of 2022, your employer still has the control to prohibit THC usage.  Delta 9 will show up on a drug test.

In conjunction with federal mandates, all cbdMD products are formulated from hemp, not marijuana.  To understand the legality of cannabis, let’s dive into the 2018 Farm Bill.

Until 2018, the cannabis plant was classified as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), condemning it to be on par with the most dangerous drugs in the world (i.e., the U.S. Opioid Epidemic, crack cocaine, heroin, etc.).  The rejection of cannabis was thanks to Richard Nixon’s War on Drugs in the 1970s, which targeted the recreational and medical use of drugs.  After decades of research and dissolution of ignorance, the 2018 Farm Bill passed, making cannabis and its cannabinoid counterparts federally legal today…to a threshold.

The bill proposed that for a cannabis product to be considered federally legal, it must contain less than 0.3% D9 THC by dry weight volume.  After the 2018 Farm Bill opened the door for hemp industrialization, the cannabis community streamlined endless cannabis products for every category possible.  As a result, cannabinoids such as Delta 8 THC, Delta 10 THC, and HHC were created.

Now, I’m sure you’re wondering what the buzz around Delta 9 THC is all about.  We’re here to confirm that the fierce cannabinoid has become a medical utility for many reasons.

As determined by 2022 research, Delta 9 can treat:

  • anxiety
  • multiple sclerosis (M.S.)
  • alcohol use disorder
  • nausea
  • insomnia
  • glaucoma
  • muscle spasticity
  • low appetite
  • obstructive sleep apnea
  • chronic pain
  • mood regulation

Even more surprisingly, there are unofficial reports of Delta 9 THC being used to treat severe complications like cancer (chemotherapy nausea) and anorexia nervosa.  THC works by binding nerves and specific brain sites, and the brain is still an enigma in the medical industry.

To be blunt, absolutely— but that varies from person to person.  It’s important to note that the “high” you experience from delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is more of a “body high” than a “mind high” (no hallucinations).

Sensations include intense relaxation, enhanced visual and auditory senses, slight dizziness, euphoria, and munchies.  Potential side effects are dry eyes/mouth, increased heart rate, slower reaction times, coordination problems, or even vomiting with high doses; all are normal.

When in doubt, follow the quarter rule: eat 1/4th of a 10 mg gummy, and wait a few hours to see if it kicks in.  You can always up the intake from there.  Metabolism is a critical factor that comes into play here, so it’s imperative to explore your THC tolerance for a fulfilling experience.

If you’ve heard of Delta 9 THC, you probably know its weaker cousin, Delta 8.  The difference between the two stems from their chemical compounds, where Delta 8 has a double carbon bond on the eighth chain and delta 9 on the ninth.  Both will get you “high,” but Delta 8 THC gummies have far less potency obtained from the natural hemp plant.

Undoubtedly, Delta 9 THC is the jackpot when it comes to all of the positive qualities of cannabis.  cbdMD knows this, dawning upon us its powerful full-spectrum blend drawn from natural cannabis Sativa.  It’s packed with Delta 9 THC, CBD ingredients, and whole plant extracts sized down to a delicious gummy in cherry and blue razz flavors.

For dosage assistance or to inquire about our other hemp oils, CBD creams, and more, call us at 757-577-1024 and connect with a professional.  Always check your state/local laws before purchasing a cannabis product, and avoid operating heavy machinery.  Enjoy riding the Delta 9 THC wave!
